One of Canada’s very own earned a top-three finish at the 2025 Snow Rodeo FIS Freestyle Halfpipe World Cup this past weekend at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park.
Rachael Karker of Guelph, Ont., placed third in the freestyle halfpipe competition on Saturday for her 13th consecutive podium result. Karker moved to Calgary in 2018 to take advantage of the facilities.
Cassie Sharpe of Comox, B.C. (fourth), Dillian Glennie (sixth) of Courtenay, B.C. and Amy Fraser (seventh) of Calgary each ended up in the top 10, as well.
As the Snow Rodeo marked the final event of this season’s World Cup circuit, the Crystal Globe for the best cumulative point total was also awarded. The trophy was shared between Li Fanghui of China and Zoe Atkin of Great Britian, a year after Karker took home the top prize.
On the men’s side, Saturday’s top performing Canadian was Calgary’s Brendan Mckay (fifth), followed by fellow Calgarians Andrew Longino (ninth), Dylan Marineau (11th) and Noah Bowman (15th).
Mckay’s efforts earned him third place in the Crystal Globe standings.
The second half of the Snow Rodeo gets underway with the FIS Snowboard Halfpipe and Slopestyle World Cup this Wednesday, Feb. 19, to Saturday, Feb. 22. Come see what these excellent athletes have in store!
